the world of magazines - 3

chàe media is a content creating company designed for students by students. We are a team of women who passionately love creating content for those who may need a helping hand, in all areas of life, and they typically are students but range from students, young adults and women. We have released four magazine issues and are about to release our fifth very soon! While creating the issues we also do create content on the side being blog posts, recipes, artworks and many more creative things. I will be discussing the last two issues we have released so they line up with frankie, and seeing how the online differs to the printed version.

Our magazines are available online through our website where you can download it as well as through the website issuu where we upload all of our issues. We do push for access to be through issuu as we are then able to record how many people are interacting with the magazine. As we are looking at other ways for people to access our magazine we did take into account what the printing process would be like and whether we would get rid of the online version. The online version works for our audience because it is so easy to read and you are able to read it anytime, anywhere. As our audience is young adults, being online for them has great results for us, because anyone is able to read it and it is also free.

Having the magazine online is still eco-friendly, and if we ever went down the printing aspect then we would use the eco-friendly option for paper as well. In our previous issues, we included different poems that our audience were able to print out, as well as yummy recipes. Our student insights section is really popular where we showcase different students or peoples works to our audience, they are able to share what they do and include where to find them! This is something we have done from the start and we have a lot of interaction coming up to each release because people want to be featured. We do feature our team members too, our third issue included everyone in our team and the fourth we decided to split them into two groups allowing for our fifth issue to be released soon. Online is also great as any editing we need to fix up or any issues we can quickly fix that, and the process of releasing the magazine is just one click. For our time online works best with the audience as we have people reading our magazine in different countries because of the university network and our student insights!

The third issue we changed our entire look, creating a new logo, colour scheme and having new girls join our team! This release was the best for chàe as it really embodied the aesthetics of our audience. By keeping it online too it was easy for all the changes to be made, with all of our little designs throughout the two issues our viewers were able to screenshot them and use them as wallpapers too! The online presence is easy for our viewers and ourselves to share around the issues just through one link, again the easiest form for many people. The fourth issue was all about the online presence, and how many things are now online and how to make that move easily, which works hand in hand when the magazine is released onto our website and through issuu.

Online for chàe may be our future for a while, but I am still willing to see what works best for our audience and as well for the team. It would be a dream to see the magazine printed as an actual copy but just to see it being shared around between people and different media platforms is just as exciting!
